Registered Nurse Tier I (RN) - Step Down

Job Summary

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Responsibilities

• Implements and monitors patient care plans.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
• Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
• Ensures patient safety.
• Medication administration.
• Patient/Family education.
• Provision of nursing care.
• Evaluation – Continuously evaluates the patient’s status and the effectiveness of the nursing care, modifying the care plan as needed.
• Care Coordination – Initiates actions with patients, families, and/or members of their healthcare team to manage and correct the sequence, timing, and/or effectiveness of patient care from admission to discharge.
• Delegation – Delegates tasks to other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
• Supervision – Supervises the work of other healthcare professionals as assigned.
• Prioritization – Prioritizes tasks based on patient needs and priorities.

Qualifications

• Minimum Requirements:
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Experience: One (1) year as an RN.
  • Licensure/Certifications: Valid current Arizona Nursing License or compact state license and ability to become Arizona Licensed in 30 days.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association and others as required by individual department as noted in Attachment A.
• Preferred Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Licensure/Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or others as required by individual department.
