Registered Nurse Tier I (RN) - Step Down
Job Summary
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Responsibilities
- Implements and monitors patient care plans.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
- Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
- Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
- Ensures patient safety.
- Medication administration.
- Patient/Family education.
- Provision of nursing care.
- Evaluation – Continuously evaluates the patient’s status and the effectiveness of the nursing care, modifying the care plan as needed.
- Care Coordination – Initiates actions with patients, families, and/or members of their healthcare team to manage and correct the sequence, timing, and/or effectiveness of patient care from admission to discharge.
- Delegation – Delegates tasks to other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
- Supervision – Supervises the work of other healthcare professionals as assigned.
- Prioritization – Prioritizes tasks based on patient needs and priorities.
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Experience: One (1) year as an RN.
- Licensure/Certifications: Valid current Arizona Nursing License or compact state license and ability to become Arizona Licensed in 30 days.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association and others as required by individual department as noted in Attachment A.
- Preferred Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Licensure/Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or others as required by individual department.
