Registered Nurse Temp Assignment | Med/Surg

About the role

Temp Assignment Based RNs are experienced, proficient nurses within their specialty (medical/surgical, telemetry, critical/intermediate care, behavioral health, emergency, or women’s services) responsible for providing safe, continuous, high-quality patient care in a variety of settings. These RNs are temporarily assigned to one unit for a designated number of weeks based on system needs and must be able to work at any Novant Health location. This position is a 90-day temporary assignment with the intention of transitioning into a full-time staff role at the end of the assignment, based on performance and unit needs.

Requirements

• RN License in Appropriate State
• Minimum of two years of experience in the Med-Surg service line
• Appropriate customer service, effective and appropriate customer relations, verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, interpersonal relationship skills, conflict resolution, critical thinking and computer literacy
• Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing
• Ability to interpret information and identify each patient’s requirement for care relative to his/her age specific need
• Knowledge and skill necessary to modify care according to patient(s) age
• NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units

Preferred Qualifications

• 4 Year / Bachelors Degree; BSN preferred
• Consecutive year within defined specialty (Med Surg, Tele, Critical Care, ED or Women's)
• Specialty Certification

Certifications and Training

• Successfully complete the Cardiac dysrhythmia test or Cardiac dysrhythmia course within 3 months of hire
• NIH Stroke Scale certification upon hire
• Specialty specific:
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certification for Emergency Services, Behavioral Health and Med Surg RNs
  • Women’s Services — Breastfeeding course
  • Labor and Delivery, Antepartum RN — fetal monitoring course and breastfeeding course
