About the role

Founded in 1921, Straub Benioff Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology. Straub is home to the Pacific Region’s only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai'i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement. The Neuro Progressive Care Unit offers specialized care to patients with specific medical/surgical needs, with a strong focus on those with neurological conditions. The department puts great emphasis on providing complete case management, privacy and communications services, as well as maintaining patient safety and infection control. One of the unit’s distinctive features is its telemetry monitoring, employed for patients who are hemodynamically unstable or require continuous cardiac monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional and compassionate nursing services to the Straub community through the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of patient care.
  • Function as an associate to a charge nurse and begin to assume charge nurse responsibilities with time.

Requirements

  • Current Hawai‘i Registered Nurse License.
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card.
  • One (1) year recent acute care Registered Nurse experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field.
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) CPR card.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Excellent patient care and communication skills.

Rate of pay for selected candidates will be determined by various factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, relevant experience and training, as well as internal peer equity.
