Position Purpose
Using the Quality Caring Model, demonstrates acceptable performance and applies the nursing process to plan and manage the care of routine patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates fundamental patient/family information to health care team. Identifies and communicates variances from patient goals. Responsible for providing and coordinating interdisciplinary patient care utilizing the nursing process.
Responsibilities
- Uses the Quality Caring Model, the Operating Room Nurse (OR RN) demonstrates expertise in performance and application of the nursing process to plan and manage the care of patients in the operating room setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
- As an innovator in minimally invasive surgery, Holy Cross Hospital was first in Montgomery County to offer robotic surgery with the da Vinci® surgical system.
- Plans and delivers patient care
Collaborates with the surgical team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients
Pre-operative assessments, including reviewing patient histories and conducting physical examinations
Scrub functions including selection and handling of instruments and supplies during procedures
Circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communication of patient condition
Monitor patients' vital signs and ensure their safety and comfort throughout the surgical process
Assist with specimen collection, processing, and documentation
Educate patients and family
Plan continuum of care
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (with requirement to obtain a BSN/MSN within a specific time frame)
- Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- At least 1 year of nursing experience in a surgical setting (scrubbing and circulating)
Preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $41.70 – $55.68 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
