About the role
This fast-paced ambulatory surgery center requires a Registered Nurse who rotates between Pre-Op and PACU, caring for a wide variety of patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, with diverse procedures and acuity levels.
Responsibilities
- Perform initial and ongoing patient/family assessments and document per guidelines.
- Develop, implement, and update individualized plans of care based on patient needs and expected outcomes.
- Provide safe, ethical, patient-centered care while supporting dignity, diversity, and autonomy.
- Prioritize care based on patient condition and unit needs.
- Safely administer medications and treatments; perform technical skills per policy.
- Recognize and respond to emergencies, initiating appropriate interventions.
- Evaluate patient responses to care and revise plans in collaboration with the care team.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Supervise delegated tasks and ensure quality care delivery.
- Participate in organizational activities such as committees, staff meetings, and unit initiatives.
- Support student learning and staff development; serve in leadership roles as needed.
- Maintain professional competence through continuing education and self-assessment.
- Build collaborative, collegial relationships across the healthcare team.
- Identify and act on opportunities for process improvement.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree - Nursing (Required)
- New hires required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
- Experience in a critical care setting is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs at various stages of the life cycle.
- Registered Nurse Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
Qualifications
- Flexible to prepare patients for surgery, recover them post-operatively, and step in to monitor patients or assist in the OR as needed.
- Adaptable, teamwork-oriented, and skilled in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic surgical environment.
