PURPOSE AND SCOPE

Serves the organization's mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the organization's Compliance Program, including regulatory and organizational policy requirements.

QUALITY

  • Supports and drives organization quality standards through meeting regulatory and accrediting body requirements and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).
  • Ensures compliance with data collection and auditing activities.
  • Maintains facility environmental integrity and safety.

PATIENT

  • Performs nursing assessment and obtains necessary medical history.
  • Provides patient education and addresses patient concerns.
  • Completes documentation accurately from admission to discharge.
  • Administers medications and IV moderate sedation as directed.
  • Assists with patient workflow and transports patients as needed.
  • Performs point-of-care laboratory testing and IV insertion.
  • Acts as a scrub technologist during procedures.

PHYSICIANS

  • Communicates regularly with physicians and participates in CQI meetings.
  • Aids in verifying necessary instruments and equipment.
  • Aids in reporting adverse events and internal reporting.

Maintenance/Technical

  • Operates and inspects facility equipment and technology.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment.
  • Addresses blood spills and ensures proper handling of hazardous materials.

Administrative

  • Utilizes resources efficiently to achieve supply cost goals.
  • Develops and revises policies and procedures for continuous process improvement.
  • Participates in CQI activities and completes usage logs for medications.
  • Assists with maintaining facility supply inventory and emergency equipment.
  • Completes state-required records for implanted devices.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regular desk and computer work.
  • Frequent prolonged periods of standing.
  • Heavy lifting and moving of patients and equipment.
  • Extended periods wearing protective gear.
  • Work environment with air temperature control and moderate noise levels.
  • Exposure to infectious, contagious diseases/materials and radiation.

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Associate's Degree desirable.
  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (R.N.).
  • Current appropriate state licensure and ACLS certification required.

Experience and Required Skills

  • 4-6 years' related experience preferred.
  • Office-based surgical center, ambulatory surgical center, vascular access, cardiac cath lab, or a combination of ASC, surgical, interventional radiology, and ICU/CCU or emergency department experience preferred.
  • Proficient in computers and related software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in IV insertion and cardiac rhythm recognition.
  • Experience with medical database software.
  • Certified in BLS & ACLS.
