About the role

The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center (CVVAMC) is seeking a highly motivated Registered Nurse to serve as an Assistant Nurse Manager in Acute Care. This role combines clinical knowledge with leadership responsibilities and is often considered part of the succession plan for future Nurse Manager positions.

Responsibilities

  • Fosters team development
  • Serves as a key liaison between staff and leadership
  • Supports the Nurse Manager in overseeing operations of a nursing unit/patient care area
  • Assists with the recruitment and hiring process for employees under their direct supervision
  • Approves schedules and leave for employees under their direct supervision
  • Applies sound decision-making and judgment to influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Assists the Nurse Manager in evaluating employee performance and recommending performance standards and awards
  • Directs work, assigns duties, and evaluates employee performance
  • Manages day-to-day operations of the nursing unit/patient care area
  • Ensures compliance with standards of clinical practice

Requirements

Basic Requirements:

  • English Language Proficiency
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: ACEN or CCNE
  • Current - full - active - and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia
  • Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) and 2 years of professional nursing experience in which one year is equivalent to Nurse I - Level 2
  • Master’s degree in a related field with a BSN and 1 year of professional nursing experience equivalent to Nurse I - Level 2
  • Doctoral degree in Nursing with 1 year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse I - Level 2
  • Doctoral degree in a related field with a BSN and 1 year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse I - Level 2
