About the Role

The Registered Nurse Supervisor provides overall leadership of clinical nursing services and supervises nursing personnel (RN, LPN) at designated sites. This role acts as a liaison with accredited nursing programs and collaborates with senior management to prepare for clinical and operational audits, develop quality improvement projects, and monitor UDS and HEDIS quality metrics. The Nurse Supervisor is directly responsible for the infection prevention and control program and all related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Staff Development and Management:
    • Assist in HR functions for nursing and ancillary services, including hiring, disciplinary action, and compliance with company policies.
    • Ensure adequate staffing levels and coverage to meet patient care and regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee performance evaluations and provide regular feedback to employees.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to foster a positive environment at all health centers.
    • Assist in developing and implementing staff training programs to meet continuing education and contractual requirements.
  • Program Planning and Management:
    • Provide direction and guidance for nursing and health programs in collaboration with senior management.
    • Ensure nursing programs and ancillary services meet patient care and regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee and control supplies impacting patient care, such as medications, medical supplies, and equipment.
  • Quality Management:
    • Provide direction and oversight for nursing and ancillary activities in quality management.
    • Actively participate in the Quality Management Committee and conduct regular monitors.
    • Lead or participate in special projects to address areas of concern.
    • Enhance service excellence and care delivery model initiatives as a role model.
  • Clinical Compliance:
    • Ensure nursing and ancillary staff practice within their individual scopes of practice.
    • Participate in Nursing Unit Level Policy & Procedure (P&P) Committee to maintain current policies compliant with regulatory requirements.
    • Conduct regular meetings with staff to ensure understanding and buy-in for P&P.
    • Participate in external audits and prepare Corrective Action Plans (CAP) as needed.
  • Infection Prevention and Control:
    • Direct responsibility for Adelante’s infection prevention and control program and related activities.
    • Collaborate with leaders and partners on infection prevention initiatives.
  • Clinical Duties:
    • Perform triage calls using approved clinical decision support tools for adult primary care, OB, and pediatric populations.
    • Participate in team meetings, specialty team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
    • Facilitate health and disease education sessions for patients (adults, pediatrics, OB).
    • Coordinate continuity of care with external healthcare organizations and facilities.
    • Develop relationships with external healthcare organizations to find additional resources.
    • Coordinate outreach efforts for high-risk patients, hospital discharges, and admissions.
    • Collaborate with health plans, hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities for transitional care needs.
    • Conduct comprehensive preventative screenings for patients and assist support staff in daily interactions.
    • Complete Nurse Visits, including POCT items (e.g., flu, strep, UA, HCG testing).
    • Evaluate clinical care, resource utilization, and develop new clinical tools, forms, and procedures.
    • Manage insulin titration for diabetic patients, including follow-up calls.
    • Perform patient assessments and deliver patient-specific education plans.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Promote interdisciplinary communication and collaboration to enhance care delivery.
    • Comply with Adelante Healthcare’s Compliance Program, Standards of Conduct, and policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or foreign equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of increasingly responsible nursing management experience, preferably in an outpatient setting.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of direct patient care experience, preferably in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Certification in Infection Prevention Control (CIC) or ability to acquire within the first year of employment by meeting CIC qualifications:
    • At least 1 year of full-time experience in infection prevention control, OR
    • Two years of part-time infection prevention control experience, OR
    • 3,000 hours of infection prevention control experience earned in the previous three years.
  • Licensed with the AZ State Board of Nursing; license in good standing.
  • Demonstrated understanding of clinical methods and record-keeping systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with Patient Management Systems.
  • Meet the organization’s immunization requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations in a multicultural environment.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Certification in CPR for Healthcare Professionals and AED through American Heart Association or Red Cross (cognitive and skills evaluations).
  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety for all specialty behavioral health locations.

Preferred Skills

  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role requires the ability to sit for long periods, stand, walk, use hands, reach with arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment may expose the employee to weather conditions when traveling to various clinic sites. The noise level is usually moderate, and the employee may be subject to health hazards (e.g., contagious diseases, bloodborne pathogens) when working in clinic areas.
