About the role
Provide behavioral health and substance use counseling services that support clients during treatment, including assessment, counseling, and care planning.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission and conduct ongoing evaluations to identify and address clients’ medical needs.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, nursing standards, and organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including assessments, medication administration records, and incident reports.
- Respond to medical emergencies and urgent health concerns in accordance with established protocols.
- Coordinate medical referrals, appointments, diagnostic testing, and follow-up care to ensure continuity of treatment.
- Develop discharge care plans and provide client education regarding medications and ongoing medical needs.
- Maintain client confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA, state, and federal regulations.
- Participate in treatment team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement activities.
Requirements
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland required.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred.
- Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, detoxification, or psychiatric nursing strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in an acute care, long-term care, or residential treatment setting preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct nursing assessments, administer medications, and manage clinical documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Familiarity with infection control practices, regulatory compliance, and chart review/audit preparation preferred.
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills with the ability to respond effectively to patient needs and clinical situations.
Qualifications
