About the Role
The Direct Patient Care Registered Nurse (DPC RN) is a licensed professional able to demonstrate proficiency and mastery of core competencies: assessment, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, planning, intervention, evaluation, flexibility, organizational skills, professional accountability, leadership, and service. The DPC RN delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner, utilizing and promoting evidence-based practice standards of quality, safety, and service.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred; required for RNs hired after specific dates per location)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Additional qualifications:
- RNs hired prior to specific dates (2/1/2012 for South, 10/1/2017 for Bethesda, 10/1/2023 for Boca, 7/1/2018 for Fishermen’s) are not required to have a BSN to continue in their non-leadership role.
- RNs hired after those dates with an Associate’s degree will have 3 years from their date of hire to complete the BSN degree.
- RN must complete a preceptor class within twelve months of being deemed competent by department leadership for independent practice.
- As per department standard, any of the following may be required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, or ONS-Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card.
- Minimum required experience: Less than 1 year.
