Responsibilities

  • Provides expert, evidence-based education to staff.
  • Performs learning needs assessments and develops educational trainings for clinical staff within the organization.
  • Aids in the orientation of new employees, evaluating their progress, and developing a learning plan for identified deficiencies.
  • Serves as a trainer and consultant for the Resuscitation Education Initiative (Redi) Program, including certification as a Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor.
  • Maintains and tracks BLS/Advanced Life Support (ALS) compliance within the organization.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support and evaluate emergency responses, including BLS and ALS.
  • Organizes, participates, and evaluates mock codes.
  • Supports nurse residency programs, developing curriculum using strategic learning methodologies like simulation, lecture case studies, and virtual reality.
  • Evaluates current practice, formulating outcomes for groups of patients and/or organizational processes within the area of expertise.
  • Collaborates with other Clinical Nurse Educators and interprofessional healthcare teams in ongoing clinical education activities, including in-services, training, competency assessment, and evaluations of both current and new staff nursing skills.
  • Analyzes, interprets, and evaluates data to determine outcomes and changes related to educational programs.
  • Consults and collaborates through participation in organizational committees.

Qualifications

  • Basic Requirements: English Language Proficiency, Graduate of a school of professional nursing, Current full active unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse, Possession of a current full active unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia, Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception, Credit for foreign nursing education higher than associate degree/entry level requires a formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized equivalency evaluation accepted by VA such as International Consultants of Delaware (ICD).
  • Dimension Requirements: Practice, Veteran/Patient Driven Care, Leadership, Professional Development and Evidence-Based Practice/Research.

Skills

  • Expertise in instructional design, implementation, and application related to education and training.
  • Ability to perform learning needs assessments and develop educational trainings for clinical staff.
  • Knowledge of current nursing literature for new trends and changes based on evidence-based research.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate data to determine outcomes and changes related to educational programs.
  • Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and other Clinical Nurse Educators.
