Registered Nurse - SCI Camp Hill

Responsibilities

• Nursing Care Delivery: Implement care plans by checking vital signs, giving medications, performing treatments, and supporting daily living needs
• Medical Support: Assist physicians during exams, clinics, and screenings
• Emergency Response: Provide assessment and urgent treatment including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, and automated external defibrillator (AED) use
• Record Management: Maintain medical files, prepare reports, and ensure accurate documentation
• Supply Oversight: Sterilize instruments, track inventory, and maintain necessary medical supplies
• Professional Development: Attend training sessions and stay informed on policy and procedure updates

Schedule

Full-time employment; 40-hour work week. The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 8 or 12 hour work shifts.

• 1st shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
• 2nd shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
• 3rd shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM

Work hours to be determined. Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs.

Qualifications

• Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
• All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing
• If within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply
• At the time of appointment, must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license
• Successful completion of Basic Training in Elizabethtown, PA is required
• Must be able to perform essential job functions
• Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
