Registered Nurse, School Nurse - Supervisory

Certified position – 190-day contract, non-exempt FLSA classification. Reports to the Health Services Coordinator.

About the Role

Supervise and deliver comprehensive school health programs for Norman Public Schools, ensuring compliance with state laws and district policies.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for the health programs and related needs of students.
• Participate in placement meetings when appropriate.
• Conduct health screenings and make appropriate referrals.
• Report to parents and school personnel information pertinent to health care.
• Administer medications in accordance with State Laws and Board of Education Policy.
• Attend meetings and conferences regarding health services.
• Authorize exclusion and readmission of students with infectious and contagious conditions according to Norman Public Schools Guidelines.
• Prepare and submit reports as necessary.
• Participate in School Safe, Healthy, and Fit committees.
• Provide health education to students, faculty, and staff.
• Manage the computerization of school district health operations; train and support district staff on administrative systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current Nursing License from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
• Current School Nurse Standard Certificate by the State of Oklahoma.
• High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of nursing-related experience.
• Previous work or volunteer experience with children, teenagers, and/or students with disabilities is preferred.

• Excellent communication skills with students, parents, faculty, staff, and the medical community.
• Vision abilities including close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
