26-27 Registered Nurse, School Nurse - Supervisory
About the role
Assume responsibility for the health programs and related needs of the students.
Participate in placement meetings when appropriate.
Conduct health screenings and make appropriate referrals.
Report to parents and school personnel information pertinent to health care.
Administer medications in accordance with State Laws and Board of Education Policy.
Attend meetings and conferences regarding health services.
Authorize exclusion and readmission of students with infectious and contagious conditions according to Norman Public Schools Guidelines.
Prepare and submit reports as necessary.
Participate in School Safe, Healthy, and Fit committees.
Provide health education to students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing related experience.
- Previous work or volunteer experience with children, teenagers and or students with disabilities is preferred.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing preferred.
Skills
- Good customer service/people skills.
- Handle problems and provide information and technical assistance as requested.
- Comply with safety guidelines and policies to reduce accidents or injury to staff or to students.
- Follow school dress standards, proper attendance or leave policies, and other work-habits concerns for staff.
- Help manage the computerization of school district operations.
- Train and support district staff in the use of administrative computer systems.
- Utilize discretion, ingenuity and independent judgment due to the complexity of the job.
- Communicate with students, parents, faculty, staff and the medical community.
