Registered Nurse (RN) Vascular Surgery and Podiatry
About the role
Duke University Health System- Duke Specialty Clinics located at Duke Regional Hospital Clinic in Durham seeks to hire a full-time Registered Nurse.
The Duke Regional Vascular Surgery and Podiatry Clinics seek CMA’s a Registered Nurse to provide clinical nursing support for a vascular surgery practice, including patient assessment, telephone triage, care coordination, patient education, and pre- and post-operative care management.
Candidates should have 3-5+ years of RN experience, preferably in vascular surgery or cath lab procedures, ambulatory specialty care, surgical inpatient nursing, dialysis/nephrology, wound care, threatened limb care coordination, podiatry, or related specialties.
Patient triage, care coordination, chronic disease management, and pre- and post-operative surgical care skills are strongly preferred.
Ideal candidates should be comfortable managing medically complex patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support comprehensive patient care.
Responsibilities
- Plan and provide advanced and/or specialized nursing care for patients in accordance with guidelines established within the Discipline of Nursing Clinical Ladder Program
- Participate in educational activities, departmental committees, research projects and other health-related projects as assigned
- Identify care needs for patient populations at the unit level
- Provide leadership in the development of standards of care, patient/family education and staff education to address the needs of specific populations
- Collaborates closely with providers and multidisciplinary teams to support patients with vascular disease, wound care needs, threatened limb conditions, and podiatric concerns
- Delegates appropriate clinical tasks to medical assistants, oversees clinical workflow, and ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care in the ambulatory setting
- Coordinates diagnostic testing, referrals, procedures, and follow-up care for a medically complex patient population
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program
- BLS required
Qualifications
- Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina
- BSN strongly preferred
Skills
- Knowledge of scope of the registered nurse, licensed practical nurse and Unlicensed staff
- Knowledge of and appropriate application of the nursing process
- Knowledge of professional theory, practice and procedure
- Ability to assess nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families
- Ability to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others
- Ability to teach patients and families in accordance with the nursing plan of care
- Ability to use sensory and cognitive functions to process and prioritize information, treatment, and follow-up
- Ability to use fine motor skills
