About the role
The Trauma Surgical Intensive Care Unit (TSICU) is a 16-bed ICU dedicated to the care of critically injured, surgical, and neurological patients. Nurses here are exposed to a wide range of conditions, requiring them to be highly attuned to patient changes and provide rapid interventions.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate leadership skills by making decisions that impact others.
- Achieve outcomes through responsible performance.
- Communicate clearly and accurately with patients, families, and team members.
- Delegate tasks effectively to LPNs, PCAs, and other support staff.
- Ensure patient safety by adhering to safety principles and documenting observations and care plans accurately.
- Participate in performance improvement activities and assist with implementing changes.
- Document initial and annual competencies according to job class standards.
- Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration to meet patient needs.
Requirements
- Current Alabama Board of Nursing RN license or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
- Current AHA or Red Cross BLS Provider training.
- BSN preferred, minimum Associates degree required.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations and standards.
