Registered Nurse (RN) - Trauma Acute Care Inpatient, Part-time, Rotating

About the Role

This is a part-time (24 hours per week) position on a 36-bed post-surgical unit specializing in traumatic injury and acute care surgical patients. You will care for patients in varying stages of pre- and post-surgical care, including those with medical comorbidities. The role focuses primarily on trauma patients and requires teamwork, open communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The unit emphasizes safety, reliability, and team-based patient care.

Schedule: 2x12-hour shifts (day/night rotation) with weekend rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care.
  • Apply critical thinking to anticipate and recognize changes in patient status, modifying the plan of care or escalating to the care team as needed.
  • Practice in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics, advocating for patients, upholding autonomy in decision-making, ensuring informed consent, and assisting patients and families in expressing self-determination.
  • Actively seek feedback and act to improve performance.
  • Engage in the governance of nursing practice.
  • Manage interpersonal relationships for self and others.
  • Mentor colleagues to advance nursing practice and the profession.
  • Assume authority and accountability for patient care while appropriately delegating elements of care to the care delivery team in compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Prioritize and organize time to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Actively seek current evidence and standards, applying and translating them to daily practice.
  • Role model a culture of inquiry, contributing to research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice at the local level.
  • Communicate effectively in various formats across all areas of practice.
  • Partner with others to effect positive change through knowledge exchange.
  • Precept student nurses, nurse externs, nurse residents, experienced clinical nurses, and other healthcare team members.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program (required).
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) (preferred).
  • Licensed RN with New Hampshire eligibility.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
