Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor - Emergency Services
About the role
The Emergency Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is a key member of the interdisciplinary team in the Emergency Department. This position is responsible for evaluating and directing the work of registered nurses, resolving employee issues, and exercising discretion to ensure proper function of the department.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and determine work assignments and evaluate job performance.
- Cover call-offs, adjust schedules as needed.
- Meet with employees to listen to and resolve employee issues and grievances.
- Implement performance improvements including verbal counseling.
- Develop and implement department and/or hospital policies.
- Ensure all employees are trained in policy.
- Exercise discretion to ensure proper function of department or subdepartment.
- Supervise staff delivering patient care within Emergency Services.
Requirements
- Current state RN license.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or completion within five years.
- Completion of trauma nurse education.
- Three years of Emergency nursing experience.
- Current certifications in CEN, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS.
- One year of supervisory experience preferred.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess an associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include: BSN or completion within five years of current licensure, trauma nurse education, three years of Emergency nursing experience, current certifications in CEN, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS, and one year of supervisory experience preferred.
Skills
Effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are essential. Proficiency in trauma nursing and emergency care is required. Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance is also important.
