Registered Nurse (RN) - Staffing Office/Float Pool (Mother Baby/Pediatrics/L&D), Full Time, Days

Job Summary

The Level II Competent Registered Nurse is clinically able to care for patients. This role collaborates with the healthcare team to improve patient care by integrating evidence-based knowledge into practice.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate nursing care, including oversight of licensed and unlicensed personnel.
• Coordinate patient and family involvement in care, including teaching and discharge planning.
• Communicate and coordinate care plans with other healthcare team members.
• Afford leadership to define standards of excellence for patient care; participate in improving care services.
• Contribute to and integrate performance improvement into care delivery and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Provide input to the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs.
• Participate in unit, departmental, and hospital committees for policy development.
• Ensure the physical, mental, and social well-being of patients and their caregivers.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care based on admission and subsequent visits.
• Provide appropriate education to patients and caregivers related to the plan of care.
• Serve as a case manager to coordinate multidisciplinary services according to the plan of care.
• Maintain productivity standards as determined by agency leadership.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings for information sharing and patient management.
• Attend staff and administrative meetings.
• Engage in quality and performance improvement activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program and have experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Valid RN License from Virginia or a reciprocal compact state required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• NIHSS (Bluecloud) required at hire.
• Additional certifications may be required according to the assigned unit.
• Two years of recent RN acute care experience required.

Compensation

Pay range: $51.75 - $54.00 USD hourly.

Required Physical Requirements

• Constant walking, standing, use of arms and hands.
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting.
• Ability to lift 35 lbs.
• Ability to push and pull 20 lbs.
• Auditory and visual skills to include color determination.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Ability to reach above/overhead.

Environmental Requirements and Exposure Hazards

• Potential risk of exposure to radiation and toxic chemicals.
• Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens; must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Clinical positions in Mary Washington Home Health and/or Hospice must also meet driving requirements.
