About the role
The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) will provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to sexual assault victims. This includes performing forensic exams, administering prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, photographic documentation, referrals for medical and psychological follow-up, and supporting legal proceedings. The SANE will follow protocols established by the Medical Director and/or program management and deliver safe patient care using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, non-judgmental, compassionate care to sexual assault victims
- Perform forensic exams and photographic documentation
- Administer prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases
- Provide referrals for medical and psychological follow-up
- Support and participate in legal proceedings
- Follow protocols established by the Medical Director and/or SANE program management
- Deliver safe patient care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
Requirements
- Current and valid state RN license
- Unrestricted State Driver’s License
- Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
- Completed approved Illinois SANE training (40 hours of didactic coursework)
- Complete initial Pediatric SANE training within 6 months of hire
Pay
Competitive compensation with an estimated starting rate of $43.00 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined based on factors such as skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
