About the role

As a Resource RN at Banner Estrella Medical Center, you will play a vital role in the assessments and plans of patients within Clinical Care Operations—the hub for patient management including bed assignment, unit staffing, house supervision, emergency preparedness, and patient transports. This position supports the clinical needs of multiple units (Progressive Care, Med/Surg, Outpatient Observation, and more) and offers continuous opportunities to expand your RN skills and knowledge through quarterly goal planning.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs.
  • Review patient history and physical with patient/family and ensure completion within policy timeframe.
  • Review diagnostics and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers.
  • Complete assessments and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
  • Formulate and revise a patient-centered plan of care, including discharge planning, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team.
  • Delegate appropriately and provide nursing supervision for care delivered by other licensed and unlicensed personnel.
  • Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise the plan as needed.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation legibly and in accordance with policy.
  • Provide care based on the best available evidence and participate in research activities within clinical practice.
  • Promote continuity of care by accurately communicating patient status to other caregivers.
  • Interact and participate in education, role development, and orientation of staff, patients, students, families, and visitors.
  • Support growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
  • Contribute to excellent patient outcomes and actively participate in improving national nursing quality indicators.
  • Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, external contacts, and clergy to support patient care.
  • Synthesize and prioritize data from multiple sources to address the human response of the patient and family to changes in health status.

Schedule

  • 3×12-hour night shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM.
  • Weekend and holiday rotations required.
  • $3/hour weekend shift differential when applicable.
  • Additional $3/hour float incentive on top of base pay.

Requirements

  • Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area, demonstrated through annual validations.
  • Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require at least one year of acute care hospital experience within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Professional certification preferred.
