About the role

Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer/Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process while delivering, directing and supervising care to patients admitted to the nursing unit. The Registered Nurse plans, coordinates, and provides patient care to include interdisciplinary planning, discharge planning, patient and family teaching for post-hospitalization, and accessing community resources.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to deliver, direct, and supervise patient care
• Plan, coordinate, and provide patient care including interdisciplinary planning
• Manage discharge planning
• Provide patient and family teaching for post-hospitalization care
• Access community resources for patients
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
• Serve as Charge Nurse when assigned (ACLS certification required)

Requirements

Education and Training

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state where the hospital resides, or compact licensure if state participates
• Current BLS certification (AHA approved)
• ACLS certification required within 90 days of employment (AHA approved)
• Current ACLS certification required for Charge Nurses

Experience

• One year of inpatient medical-surgical nursing experience preferred but not required
