About the role
Haven Behavioral Hospital of West Chester is a 72-bed facility providing high-quality, specialty behavioral health services. We seek a Registered Nurse who can lead patient care activities and maintain standards of professional nursing practice.
Responsibilities
- Assumes primary leadership accountability for milieu management and directing patient care activities of other nursing staff.
- Maintains standards of professional nursing practice in accordance with facility policy and procedures, external governing bodies, performance improvement standards, and psychiatric nursing standards.
- Affirms the patient’s condition through the nursing process, formulates an individualized plan of care, and implements interventions.
- Evaluates outcomes consistent with policy and appropriate to the current client’s condition, promoting, maintaining, and restoring physical and mental health.
- Interprets age/disability-specific information in response to the client population served.
- Administers medications safely, provides education on prescribed medications, and recognizes signs and symptoms of adverse drug reactions.
- Assumes responsibility for professional development, continuing education, and maintaining licensure.
- Utilizes nursing knowledge to successfully meet the needs of the facility, patient population, and staff members.
- Adapts to a high-stress environment, assesses potential for patient escalation, communicates effectively, organizes, demonstrates cultural sensitivity, exhibits critical thinking, and applies self-confidence.
- Completes CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.
Requirements
- Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing.
- One year of inpatient hospital experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to adapt to a high-stress environment, assess potential for patient escalation, communicate effectively, organize, demonstrate cultural sensitivity, exhibit critical thinking, and apply self-confidence.
- Exhibits understanding and sensitivity to serve culturally diverse and special needs populations such as Chronically Mentally Ill, Geriatric, CD.
- Successfully completes CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.
