Job Summary
The Surgical Care Center of Michigan is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The position is part-time, working 2 days a week, approximately 16-20 hours per week. The center operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
- Current RN License required
- Previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings preferred: Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC), PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical or Telemetry floors
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Absorbs, prioritizes, plans, and implements patient care in an effective manner
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment
- Supervises and directs patient care in an individual Operating Room
- Ensures that proper techniques and practices are used in accordance with accepted standards of practice
- Complies with HIPAA regulations and is knowledgeable of patient rights
- Performs duties in an ethical and legal manner within the scope of their license as defined by the State
- Supervises other personnel in the room and directs or assists as necessary
- Immediately reports and unusual occurrences to charge personnel, documents appropriately in the patient record
- Demonstrates primary nursing accountability through coordination, communication, and continuity of patient care
- Assists in training new staff when needed
- Balances team and individual responsibilities
- Circulator Role: Performs scrub duties as necessary, maintains count on sponges, needles and instruments, positions patient, prepares operative area, and adjusts table to proper position according to standard policies, opens all sterile packs and supplies according to aseptic technique, assists Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, and other personnel as needed, reviews Surgeon’s preference cards for desired medications and verifies same with Surgeon, ensures all medications are administered and charted according to established policies and procedures, identifies and records patient’s response to medication when necessary, cares for specimens and cultures as directed by set policies and procedures, accompanies patient to PACU and gives report to Post-Op Nurse, assists in control and maintenance of supplies and equipment, records use of equipment and method directed, checks rooms, material and equipment for proper care and handling, ensures clean, safe environment through continued alertness to safety and aseptic techniques, assists in control of traffic and personnel to ensure proper control of infection and asepsis

Education and/or Experience
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
- One year of previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings is preferred: Operating Room, surgical, ambulatory surgical center (ASC), Pre/Post-Op, PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical or Telemetry
Licenses and Credentials
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) License required in the state where the worksite is located
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
Systems and Technology
- Knowledge of Amkai Office and Amkai Charts Database software
- Knowledge of patient monitoring and emergency equipment
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Printer, copier, telephone and fax
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking (75%)

- Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%)
- Able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands are essential, as the role demands constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology
- Visual and auditory acuity—including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus—is required 100% of the time
- Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary
