About the role
Unit Commitment Bonus: $15,000 for a two-year commitment. Schedule: Days, full-time, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM with rotating weekends.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and organizational policies.
- Plans, delegates, and coordinates nursing care under the supervision of the Department Leader and with authority from the Chief Nursing Officer.
- Assesses, plans, and evaluates patient care in collaboration with the healthcare team (physicians, pharmacists, dietitians, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, social workers, etc.).
- Assists with daily review and completion of MDS sections.
- Identifies actual and potential patient needs/problems through nursing assessment to facilitate an organized and prioritized plan of care.
- Supervises and assigns patient care duties to LPNs, Nursing Assistants, and Unit Clerks based on acuity and staff proficiency.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to emergency and life-threatening situations.
- Documents assessment, plan of care, interventions, and educational needs in the Electronic Medical Record, including patient/family response to interventions.
- Assists other personnel in delivering care and observes nursing staff to recommend improvements in care quality and effectiveness.
- Evaluates, communicates, and documents patient care through huddles, reports, nursing care plans, and direct communication with the healthcare team.
- Provides patient/family education using the teach-back method, evaluates learning, and documents outcomes.
- Delivers patient care activities according to standards of care and practice.
- Administers medications and treatments, including IV meds, blood products, hyperalimentation, epidural analgesia, patient-controlled analgesia, and chemotherapy.
- Utilizes, maintains, and charges equipment and supplies; checks emergency equipment/drugs for proper operation and availability every shift.
- Maintains a safe patient and working environment by adhering to infection control and safety policies.
- Receives, documents, follows up on, and ensures physician orders are carried out properly.
- Assists physicians with bedside procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned, including AM care, attending meetings, in-services, projects, committees, ordering supplies, and receptionist duties.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Nursing (Required); Bachelor’s degree (Preferred).
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Active Kentucky RN license (single state or compact). If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
- BCLS certification within 90 days of hire; ACLS preferred for Charge RN positions.
