Registered Nurse / RN Periop PACU

Join our team as a day shift, full-time Preop Recovery Room A (PACU) Registered Nurse in Topeka, Kansas. Responsibilities

• Admit the patient to the preoperative unit and assist with physical preparation for surgery.
• Check the patient’s chart for completeness and perform preoperative preps as ordered by the physician.
• Explain the surgical routine to the patient.
• Provide professional nursing care during the immediate postoperative period (PACU).
• Assess the patient’s physical and psychological needs.
• Evaluate and implement measures to ensure a safe recovery from anesthesia.
• Prepare and safely discharge the patient from the Center.
• Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring safety during preop, intraoperatively, and post-op recovery from anesthesia.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current Nursing License in the State of Kansas.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Current ACLS certification.
• PALS certifications, as required for primary PACU RN (PRN RNs excluded).

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of experience.
