Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatric Med/Surg Float Pool
About the role
The Pediatric Med/Surg Float Pool RNs are able to float to the Pediatric Med/Surg units. The critical care RNs function in the role of charge flyer, serving as a resource for the entire pediatric hospital, making staffing recommendations, and are members of all emergency response teams, including code blue, rapid response team, and trauma activation team.
Responsibilities
- Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
- Involves the patient, family and other health team members in gathering data.
- Uses an ongoing, systematic process to gather relevant information (biological, psychological, spiritual and social aspects) from patient and family.
- Prioritizes interventions based on patient acuity, available resources, and patient/family preferences and needs.
- Initiates patient/family teaching as appropriate to age, readiness to learn and available resources.
- Collaborates, consults, or makes referrals if unable to perform safely and independently.
- Uses the full range of therapeutic modalities to support and augment the healing process, moving from least intensive and invasive to more, depending on need and context.
- Involves the patient, family and other health team members in evaluating care.
- Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care.
Requirements
- MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
- 1+ years of Pediatric (Acute) RN Experience
- Will Consider New Grad with Internship/Capstone/Practicum in Pediatrics
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or BAN
- 1-3 years of nursing experience

Compensation
