The PACU offers care with a patient ratio of either 1:2 or 1:1, depending on whether patients are ICU or pediatric cases. The unit includes between 6 and 8 PACU bays, and staff are required to hold ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications. Both inpatient and outpatient cases are managed within the PACU. Responsibilities
- Performs accurate and thorough patient assessments and identifies patient needs
- Initiates appropriate nursing interventions based on assessment findings
- Provides age- and condition-appropriate nursing care
- Completes timely and accurate documentation supporting medical necessity in the medical record
- Develops, implements, and revises interdisciplinary care plans for each patient
Requirements
- Current state RN license
- Associate's or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school
- One year of experience preferred
Skills
- BLS certification required within 30 days of hire
- ACLS and PALS certifications required within six months of hire
- TNCC certification required
