Registered Nurse (RN) Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, UMKC School of Dentistry
About the role
The UMKC School of Dentistry seeks a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department. Established over a century ago, the School prepares future oral health professionals through excellence in education, research, and patient care.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing medical histories with patients and primary care physicians or specialists
- Absessing the pre-operative patient
- Starting IV lines
- Administering and tracking medication
- Accurate documentation of patient medical records
- Assisting with IV anesthesia during surgery
- Assisting the doctor in surgery, as needed
- Supervising patients emerging from anesthesia, managing airway and pain
- Caring for patient recovery and discharge duties
- Phone triage
- Scheduling OR surgeries at local hospital or surgery center, as needed
- Ordering clinical supplies and pharmaceuticals
- Maintaining emergency cart and equipment
- Serve as the lead for the Emergency Response Team
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Completion of an approved nursing program and licensure (or eligibility to be licensed) as an RN within the state of Missouri. BLS Certification, ACLS Certification, Clinic Management Software proficiency, Proficient in MS Office Suite, Proficient in communications technology (email, Teams, etc.).
Qualifications
Highly motivated, dependable, able to multi-task, detail oriented, and work well with others as part of the patient care team.
Skills
Excellent communication skills, compliance with and oversight of OSHA standards and HIPPA regulations for the clinic, and ability to assist with various aspects of patient care.

Pay
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as up to $40.00 an hour.
