About the role
Banner Desert Medical Center/Banner Children’s at Desert offers a variety of specialties and surgical procedures, including high-risk pregnancy and neonatal care, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology, oncology, and emergency medicine. The facility is recognized for its high patient safety score, level 1 trauma designation for both adult and pediatric patients, stroke center, and CORE orthopedics.
Responsibilities
- Affirmatively assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice.
- Utilize specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
- Initiate a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data, and the medical plan of care.
- Review and revise the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs based on evaluation of the patient's status.
- Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the activities of the health care team.
- Evaluate the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revise the plan of care as needed.
- Evaluate patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with other health care team members.
- Evaluate patient's response and the effectiveness of patient teaching.
- Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record.
- Communicate the status of patients for whom care is provided to other caregivers.
- Interact and participate in the education, role development, and orientation of facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors.
- Contribute to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
Requirements
- Current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
- BLS certification is required.
- Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
- One year experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
- Experience in the clinical area for which he or she is applying is desired.
- Maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Professional certification preferred.

Benefits
- $10,000 sign-on bonus for experienced Operating Room RN.
- Level one trauma pay.
- Flat rate $5/hr for call, $3/hour weekend shift differential, and 18%-night shift differential, when applicable.
Pay
The pay for this position is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
The schedule for this position is 4-10s | 40 hours, with a 6:40am start time. On-call weekend and holiday rotations are required. Shifts will be determined once orientation is completed.
