Position Highlights

Job Summary

Responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients and families. Communicates with physicians as well as other healthcare team members to provide excellent patient care.

What You Will Do

  • Assists in care to patients as directed by provider based on competency.
  • Provides accurate, completed, legible and timely documentation of all patient procedures in the medical record.
  • Maintains timely flow of patients.
  • Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
  • Responsible for assisting with patient and family education to include procedures, medication use, nutrition, disease processes, and maintenance of health and wellness, etc., based on competency.
  • Greets patients and conducts clinical interview collecting history and vital signs.
  • Labels and processes lab specimens according to lab procedures.
  • Maintains exam room for necessary supplies and materials.
  • Performs daily and weekly environmental cleaning and equipment quality control and maintenance.
  • Cleans and sterilizes medical equipment according to policy.
  • Follows correct procedures for handling and disposing of bio-hazardous infectious waste.
  • Provides back-up help for front desk personnel. This may include answering telephone, scheduling and cancelling appointments, and scheduling consult patients.

Required Licensure/Certification

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing - An active license is required in the state of practice upon hire.

Preferred Education

  • Associate's Graduate of Medical Assistant program or equivalent.

Essential Qualifications

  • Ability to work the hours specified.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
