Registered Nurse (RN) - OR General Surgery

About the Role

The registered nurse provides patient-centered care within a collaborative, diverse environment, working under the supervision of the Nurse Manager. They utilize evidence-based practices, develop individualized care plans addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs, and follow hospital policies and medical staff directives.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care
• Interpret and communicate complex information
• Handle multiple priorities
• Respond effectively to emergency situations

Requirements

• Graduate of a nursing school
• At least one year of experience or completion of a nurse residency program
• Active, unrestricted Connecticut RN license
• BLS certification
• Department-specific certifications (required or preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN or MSN degree
• Two or more years in a specialized clinical area
• Certifications such as CNOR

Skills & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of nursing principles
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work under stress and adapt to changing circumstances
• Maintain confidentiality
• Basic computer proficiency
