Job Summary
Provides direct patient care to infant through geriatric patients in the surgical environment. Communicates with surgeons continuously regarding patient conditions.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience with emphasis on cardiovascular patient care
- Maximum of 5 years of cardiovascular knowledge
- BSN required
- Current Texas RN license
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Course and Certification
What you will do in this role
- Strives to meet customer needs and respond to concerns with urgency
- Educates patients and families on disease management, procedures, and signs requiring follow-up
- Builds effective relationships and seeks opportunities for improvement
- Maintains and addresses communication tools to resolve issues
- Safeguards patient confidentiality and acts as patient advocate
- Prepares and analyzes pre-procedure data, consults with multidisciplinary teams
- Controls costs without compromising patient safety or quality of care
- Maintains and updates preference cards as needed
- Follows up on post-procedure care
