Registered Nurse (RN) - OR Ambulatory PACU

About the role

In this role, you will be working with patients in an Ambulatory Surgery center both preparing them for their surgery, and then caring for them in the Post Anesthesia Care area (PACU). We care for both the inpatient and outpatient population.

Responsibilities

• Utilize evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies and procedures of the hospital and as directed by the medical staff.
• Develop a plan of care using the nursing process to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family.
• Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams in a patient-centered care model.
• Work in a richly diverse work environment.
• Work 8-hour shifts between the hours of 5:00am and 7:30pm M-F, may be later than 7:30 pm depending on patient care needs.
• Not available for 10 or 12 hour shifts on this unit.

Requirements

• Current Connecticut RN License.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required).
• Registered Nurse with 1-2 years of current Medical/Surgical experience required.

Qualifications

• Highly motivated, energetic, and organized with the ability to multitask.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and willingness to take on projects and tasks as determined by the needs of the department.
• Ability to function as a resource on the unit.

Skills

• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
