Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)
About the Role
Responsible for providing care in accordance with the North Carolina Board of Nursing-Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Standards of Practice, and other standards established by profession/professional groups and regulating bodies. Nursing care will be delivered in accordance with ECU Health and entity-specific nursing policies, procedures, and professional standards of care.
Responsible for the provision and coordination of nursing care, including the collection and analysis of assessment data, identification of expected outcomes, and development of a plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family and other interdisciplinary team members. Identifies interventions to attain expected outcomes, implements the interventions identified in the plan of care, evaluates the progress of the patient/family toward attainment of outcomes, and documents the process. This care includes sensitivity to age-specific and unique needs of the patient/family.
Promotes and evaluates the effective functioning of the healthcare team. Collaborates with healthcare team members to meet the identified needs of the patient/family throughout the episode of care. Delegates tasks and activities as appropriate and governed by the NC Nurse Practice Act.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collect and analyze patient assessment data to identify expected outcomes.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of care in collaboration with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team.
- Document care processes and patient progress toward outcomes.
- Promote effective functioning of the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with team members to meet patient and family needs.
- Delegate tasks and activities as governed by the NC Nurse Practice Act.
Requirements
- Current North Carolina Registered Nurse license or licensure to practice in a participating Nurse Licensure Compact state.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Schedule
10 or 12-hour shifts, with the following additional expectations:
- 3-4 weekday calls per six weeks.
- 2 weekend shifts (working or on call) per six weeks.
- Rotating day/night shifts as needed.
- 3-4 rotating holidays per year.
