About the role
New Bridge Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver compassionate, high-quality care in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assessment
- Identify and document initial observations and nursing needs for immediate action.
- Systematically assess patient needs to detect changes in clinical status.
- Plan, evaluate, and document care based on assessment findings.
- Address patient education, psychosocial needs, and discharge planning.
- Initiate referrals to other departments or outside agencies as needed.
- Direct Patient Care
- Provide comprehensive patient care and initiate patient/family teaching.
- Consult with nursing leadership on significant patient changes.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members and communicate patient updates during shift reports.
- Document patient responses to treatment and progress toward goals.
- Complete admission/transfer/discharge summaries and transcribe physician orders accurately.
- Clarify unclear or inappropriate physician orders and notify physicians of urgent changes.
- Administer intravenous medications and titrate medicated infusions per protocols.
- Safety
- Ensure emergency equipment is functional and report malfunctions to Biomedical Engineering.
- Verify monitoring equipment and ventilator alarms are set to standards.
- Indirect Patient Care Activities
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and apply infection control and safety principles.
- Orient and supervise new personnel and ancillary staff.
- Demonstrate customer service excellence: respect, professionalism, patience, and helpfulness.
- Maintain departmental policies, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Assess and update policies/procedures to address gaps.
- Adhere to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct and familiarize with its Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Other Job Duties
- Orient patient families to the environment and develop rapport.
- Relieve the Nurse Manager as required.
- Assist in data collection and analysis for Quality Assurance/CQI initiatives.
- Utilize hospital computer systems per policy and participate in Quality Improvement committees.
- Support colleagues and perform other duties as assigned.
- Attend unit meetings and continuing education; share knowledge from conferences.
- Respond to internal/external disaster codes as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current New Jersey RN licensure.
- BLS, ACLS, and IV certification.
- At least one year of Operating Room experience (circulating and scrubbing required).
Skills
- Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in English sufficient for the role.
Schedule / Physical Demands
- All patient care areas; frequent prolonged standing/walking.
- Lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring patients.
- Protective clothing required: face shield, gloves, impermeable gown.
Differentials
- Weekend differential: $2.00 per hour.
- Evening differential: 10%.
- Night differential: 12%.
- Charge pay: $2.00 per hour.
