Oceans Behavioral Hospital Pasadena focuses on helping adults and seniors manage mental health issues like anxiety and depression through innovative therapies. We offer a range of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric counseling and treatment options.
Responsibilities
- Assumes primary leadership for milieu management and directs patient care activities of other nursing staff.
- Maintains standards of professional nursing practice and implements interventions based on the nursing process.
- Affords age/disability-specific care and interprets psychiatric disorder information.
- Administers medications safely, educates patients on prescribed medications, and monitors for adverse reactions.
- Reviews, revises, and updates medical records, transcribes and implements physician's orders, and documents care accurately.
- Communicates with staff to ensure continuity of care and assists in staff assignments.
- Floats among various clinical services and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment.
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing, with one year of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
- Ability to adapt to a high-stress environment, communicate effectively, and handle diverse populations.
- Critical thinking skills, self-confidence, and ability to lead and direct others.
- CPR certification and completion of an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.
Qualifications / Skills Requirements
- Adaptable to a high-stress environment and capable of assessing potential patient escalations.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with a focus on achieving positive results with internal and external customers.
- Sensitivity to serving culturally diverse and special needs populations, including those with chronic mental illness, geriatrics, and cognitive disabilities.
- Understanding of normal physical and emotional development and the ability to apply this knowledge in patient care.
- Self-confidence and conceptual thinking abilities necessary for continuous improvement of patient care.
