Registered Nurse (RN) - New Graduate - Neurology

About the role

The Neurology Unit at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is a 17-bed facility that specializes in stroke care, general neurology, and neurosurgery overflow. It also includes eight dedicated hospitalist beds to ensure comprehensive treatment. You will work closely with various healthcare professionals, including therapists and pharmacists, to deliver patient-centered, evidence-based care in a multidisciplinary setting.

Responsibilities

• Engages in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices.
• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families through the continuum of care.
• Maintains accurate, timely EHR documentation and ensures proper medication administration, treatments, and therapies.
• Collaborates with the care team to influence care outcomes and continuously evaluates patient, team, and unit outcomes.
• Communicates effectively, resolves conflicts, fosters team collaboration, and delegates tasks appropriately.
• Pursues professional development, completes required education, and maintains certifications.
• Adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics and practices ethical decision-making, respecting interdisciplinary roles and contributing to integrated, unbiased patient care.
• Delegates tasks to other RNs, LPNs, and unlicensed assistive personnel as appropriate.
• Floats to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area to meet patient care needs.

Requirements

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Active registered nurse (RN) multi-state compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where the RN is providing client nursing services.
• Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status.
• Ability to communicate effectively, prioritize tasks, and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Proficiency in operating computer functions and maintaining accurate, timely EHR documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Pay

$38.20 - $57.30 per hour based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Three 12-hour shifts: 7a-7p or 7p-7a, 36 hours per week.
