• 3 × 12-hour shifts weekly (7 pm – 7 am)
• Every other weekend rotation

Pay

Pay range: $38.20 – $57.30 per hour

About the role

The Critical Care Unit at Lexington Medical Center is a 16-bed unit that provides both Intensive and Intermediate Care. A dedicated charge nurse supports the unit without a patient assignment. The unit is equipped to monitor and trend heart rhythms and other hemodynamic pressures. Care includes:

• Patients on ventilators, noninvasive ventilation with BiPAP or CPAP, and heated high-flow oxygen delivery
• Titrating medication IV drips to ordered parameters
• Following protocols and order sets

Patient populations include sepsis, shock, respiratory failure, DKA, HHS, electrolyte abnormalities that require close monitoring, COPD, CHF, pulmonary edema, cardiac dysrhythmias, stroke, post-surgical unstable patients, hypertensive emergency that requires IV drips, overdose, ETOH detox, and more.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state of North Carolina
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Less than 1 year of RN experience accepted

• Play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
• Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
• Use evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and skilled communication
• Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum
