Our Children’s Hospital of New Jersey (CHoNJ) serves pediatric patients exclusively. We understand that children have unique needs when it comes to medical care, requiring more than just clinical intervention. Our patients receive treatment in a calming and compassionate atmosphere in nearly 30 pediatric subspecialties including a full-service Children’s Heart Center pediatric cardiac surgery program. Experienced surgical and medical specialists include a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, a Pediatric Emergency Department, and the only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in New Jersey with an ECMO unit to assist infants in severe respiratory distress. Children's Hospital also offers a Valerie Fund Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and a specialized pediatric anesthesia and sedation program for children undergoing surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
• Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes
• Pursuing continued professional growth through access to continuing education, clinical ladder opportunities, and organizational resources that support long term career progression

Requirements

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing or Multistate RN License with NJ Endorsement
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification and NRP Certification
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is strongly preferred
• Prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC
• Experienced required in NICU specialty with a minimum of 1–2 years experience

Schedule

• Per diem night schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
• Three shifts per month: one weekend shift, two shifts Monday–Friday
• One Winter Holiday and one Summer holiday required
• Weekday schedule varies depending on department needs

Pay

$49.28 – $67.04 per hour (anticipated range; final compensation depends on education, skills, and professional experience)
