Registered Nurse RN Neonatal ICU NICU Part-time nights

About the Role

The Women's Center at Texas Health Ft. Worth, a MAGNET facility, has been named 'Best Place to Have a Baby' and is a Maternal Level IV Designated facility. As a regional referral center for high-risk deliveries, Texas Health Fort Worth offers advanced services for complex and high-risk infants with over 600 NICU admissions per year.

Our 63-bed Level III Neonatal ICU/NICU is staffed 24 hours a day by neonatologists, pediatric sub-specialists, neonatal nurse practitioners, and skilled registered nurses dedicated to providing experienced care to babies born with special health needs. Skills utilized include Bubble CPAP, Conventional Ventilator, Oscillators, and JETs (high-frequency).

Schedule

Part-Time Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) for 24 hours per week. Includes weekend and holiday requirements, as well as on-call duties of 12 hours in a 6-week schedule.

Requirements

• Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program OR (RN) Nursing Diploma
• BSN preferred
• CLIA FE certification required (must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency)
• One (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse, or completion of an RN residency program
• One year of Neonatal ICU Level III RN experience strongly preferred
• 18 months or more NICU RN experience in an acute care setting preferred
• RN – Registered Nurse (upon hire)
• BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support (prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly)
• NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program (within 90 days)
• NRPA – Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (within 90 days)
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (maintained annually, required within 90 days)

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process:
  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age-specific safety and infection control measures into patient care
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers
