Registered Nurse (RN) MSICU Nights

About the role

The Medical Surgical ICU at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for an experienced ICU RN to join their team. The position is for night shift, working 3 x 12-hour shifts per week, and requires availability to orient during daytime hours. The team offers a sign-on bonus and relocation bonus for those moving to the area.

The Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) at Inova Fairfax Hospital is an 18-bed adult unit that provides specialized, multidisciplinary care for critically ill adult patients with complex medical conditions requiring advanced monitoring and life-sustaining therapies. The unit manages a wide range of diagnoses, including sepsis and septic shock, acute respiratory failure, ARDS, severe pneumonia, COPD and asthma exacerbations, diabetic emergencies, gastrointestinal bleeding, renal failure requiring dialysis, toxicologic overdoses, neurologic emergencies, and multisystem organ failure.

The MSICU features 18 private rooms with patient lifts, EpicCare electronic medical record technology, geriatric-sensitive color schemes and patterns, patient/family zones in patient rooms, larger patient room windows, and 360-degree patient access in critical care rooms. Care needs of patients may include invasive hemodynamic and/or cardiac monitoring, intubation and mechanical ventilation, intravenous administration of vasoactive medications, conduction of medical and nursing research studies, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT).

Requirements

The minimum qualifications for this role include:

• 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship
• BSN from an accredited school of nursing (if RN has an Associate’s Degree, must complete BSN within 5 years of start date)
• BLS for healthcare provider certification from AHA required
• ACLS (must obtain within 6 months of hire)
• RN licensed, or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a RN

Preferred qualifications include 2+ years of ICU RN experience and unit involvement (e.g., committees, precepting, charge RN).
