Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Unit - Night Shift - 20K Sign-on Bonus

ChristianaCare Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our 6B Medical Unit, an inpatient unit designed to accommodate 40 patients who need acute and/or chronic medical services. The scope of services encompasses a variety of diagnoses/testing, including pneumonia, syncope, diabetes management, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and altered mental status. The patient population includes adults aged 18 years and above, with conditions ranging from good to fair. Patients are received, transferred, or admitted from the emergency department, ICU, step-down unit, home, and doctors’ offices.

About the role

The selected candidate will work three 12-hour night shifts (7 p.m. – 7 a.m.) each week, including weekends and holidays per department guidelines. A 20% shift differential is applied for the entire shift. External candidates are eligible for a $20,000 sign-on bonus.

Staffing: RNs typically care for 5-6 patients. The charge nurse assigns patients daily, considering diagnosis, condition, acuity, age, developmental level, and staff qualifications. As a medical nurse, you will implement a relationship-based care model, fostering connections with patients, their families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Provide acute and chronic medical care to adult patients with conditions such as pneumonia, syncope, diabetes, COPD, and altered mental status.
• Manage patient assignments based on diagnosis, acuity, and staff qualifications.
• Implement a relationship-based care model, engaging with patients, families, and colleagues.

Requirements

• RN License in Delaware or a Compact State.
• BSN preferred or commitment to acquire BSN within 3 years of hire.
• At least three years of med/surg experience as an RN.
• BLS certification required.

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, twist, handle, stoop, and climb as required by the practice area.

Working Conditions

• Frequent exposure to biological elements with occasional exposure to chemical and environmental elements.

Pay

Hourly pay range: $41.28 – $66.05. The actual salary offered will depend on individual factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications.
