Registered Nurse (RN) Medical-Surgical Part-Time

As a Medical Surgical RN, you will join a team dedicated to making communities healthier by providing exceptional care to patients of all ages with a wide range of medical conditions, including those recovering from surgery.

Our Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg)/ICU unit is an acute care hospital department emphasizing comprehensive, patient-centered care, ongoing patient and family education, and efficient discharge planning to support safe transitions of care.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a patient-focused nursing plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family.
• Provide care to patients in accordance with established best practices.
• Document patient care given.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to the care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Evaluate learning needs of the patient and/or family and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Act as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Maintain the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information.
• Contribute to and assist in maintaining a pleasant patient environment in a safe and orderly manner.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current Michigan RN license (or attain within 90 days of hire).
• Associate degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's degree preferred).
• Basic Life Support certification (available upon hire).
• 1-year Medical-Surgical experience preferred.
• Annual Influenza Vaccination or Declination required.

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts.
• Every 3rd weekend and Christmas Eve on even years.
