Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg PRN

As a Registered Nurse (RN) joining our team, you are embracing a vital mission dedicated to making communities healthier. This Acute Care position includes a mix of Med/Surg and Telemetry patients, with a typical staffing ratio of 1:6. Meditech experience is preferred. The role requires a minimum of 36 hours per week, including every other weekend, on 12‑hour shifts. Sovah Health - Martinsville is a 220‑bed acute‑care hospital recognized by the American College of Cardiology for Chest Pain Center and Heart Failure, the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer, and a member of the Duke Heart Network and Duke Telestroke Network.

Responsibilities

• Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.
• Documents patient care and monitors patient condition, communicating with care team, physician, patient, and family.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Coordinates patient care across disciplines, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and support needs.
• Provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, and circumstances.
• Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of patients.

Requirements

• Active Virginia RN license (single‑state) or compact license; if relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence before employment begins.
• Associate's degree in nursing required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience in the clinical area (Med/Surg/Telemetry) preferred.

Pay

Hourly range: $33.31 – $44.97.

Schedule
