About the role

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Sentara Obici Hospital is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care-teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assessments, diagnose client problems, and plan interventions according to the nursing process.
  • Implement and evaluate nursing care plans.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic care.
  • Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with procedures.
  • Document patient care accurately and timely.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire

  • One year of acute care (preferred)
  • Previous healthcare experience (preferred)
