About the role

This position integrates collaborative care planning for individual patients and implements nursing standards in the processes of care. The role utilizes the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of care plans.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to care for all patients, including assessing symptoms, planning interventions, implementing treatment plans, evaluating responses, and revising plans based on effectiveness.
  • Demonstrates age-appropriate care for the population served.
  • Adheres to established practice standards and procedures at New London Hospital, administering medications and managing inpatient care activities.
  • Documents care provided using hospital standards and appropriate nursing notes.
  • Provides education to patients and families based on identified learning needs.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary discharge planning.
  • Ensures patient environment is safe and hazard-free.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care to optimize safety and reduce medical errors.
  • Aids in the orientation of new employees to the Medical/Surgical Unit.
  • Participates in required hospital and/or unit competencies.
  • Attends staff meetings as required by the Clinical Manager.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • One year of relevant clinical practice.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple disciplines in a professional manner.

Qualifications

  • Licensed RN with NH eligibility.
  • Required Certification: ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 180 days.
