About the role

Up to $15,000 sign-on bonus based on experience! Full-time night shift position, 7:00pm to 7:30am, with every other weekend required. Provides high-quality professional nursing services in a medical and surgical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains knowledge of the nursing process and pathophysiology of disease; demonstrates and utilizes it in assessment.
  • Develops a plan of care based on patient assessments with appropriate interventions; ensures all assigned patients have a plan of care.
  • Organizes patient care responsibilities and assigns ancillary staff based on skills and experience.
  • Provides patient education based on disease and discharge planning needs; ensures documentation is present on chart.
  • Administers medications safely with no evidence of serious medication errors or careless practice.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and provides information for informed consent; observes patient rights and reports incidents of elder abuse when indicated.
  • Achieves and maintains competencies in skills needed for the assigned unit through annual appraisal.
  • Completes documentation as required for chart documents and unusual occurrences (Incident Reports); ensures charting is complete and incident reports are timely and routed appropriately.
  • Maintains currency in nursing practice by attending seminars, in-services, and journal reading; ensures nursing practice reflects current theory and adherence to correct principles.
  • Assists in planning, supervising, and instructing LVNs, CNAs, and students; supervises and evaluates RNs, LVNs, and Patient Care Technicians.
  • Recognizes and appropriately responds to cardiac arrhythmias displayed on a monitor and/or printed strip.

Requirements

  • Current CA RN license.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • ACLS within 90 days of hire.
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation course or demonstrated competency in interpretation of dysrhythmias by the end of orientation.
  • 1 year of acute care experience preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs).
  • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.
  • Lifts, positions, pushes, and/or transfers patients.

Working Conditions

  • Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances.
  • May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases.
  • Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids, and wastes.
  • Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements.
  • Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases.
  • Requires judgment/action which could result in the death of a patient.

Pay

$46.06 - $69.63 hourly. Individual wages are determined based on qualifications and experience.
