About the Role
Provides care for obstetrical and infant patients through education and consultation. Functions as a resource for patients, families, staff, and the community. This position is bonus eligible.
Responsibilities
- Assesses the physical, educational, and discharge needs of obstetrical, newborn, or breastfeeding patients.
- Identifies opportunities to improve the care of mothers, infants, and children based on patient assessments and trends in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Develops and revises evidence-based nursing policies, procedures, standards of care, protocols, and preprinted orders.
- Provides evidence-based nursing care for mothers and infants through direct consultation or the telephone helpline.
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to identify cost-effective alternatives and facilitate discharges.
- Serves as a resource, educator, and consultant for patients, families, staff, and the community.
- Evaluates and recommends new products and tools using best practice models, evidence-based materials, and research.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Two (2) years of L&D, Mom/Baby, lactation, or related nursing experience.
- Holds a current RN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or is licensed to practice as an RN in the state the team member is working.
- IBCLC certification required within 18 months of hire.
- Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) preferred.
This is a non-management role reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
