Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM

About the Role

Natchaug Hospital is a small, free-standing psychiatric hospital with unique, tight-knit units that work collaboratively to provide care to Eastern Connecticut. As a leading provider for children, adolescents, and adults with mental illness and substance use addictions, we offer a variety of programs, including:

  • Inpatient and outpatient behavioral health
  • Residential treatment for court-involved teenage girls
  • Geriatric services
  • Clinical day treatment schools
  • Chemical dependency services

The hospital has two units: Pediatric/Adolescents (26 beds) and Adults (33 beds). Three 8-hour shifts are available (first, second, third), with set schedules ranging from 8 to 32 hours per week, as well as per diem options.

The Registered Nurse utilizes psychiatric and chemical dependency nursing skills as a direct client care provider and is an integral member of the multidisciplinary team. The RN works under the direction of the Nurse Manager and/or the RN Designee, delivering direct client care individually, in groups, and in the milieu. The RN serves as a role model for other staff, leads teaching initiatives, guides group decision-making, develops and implements treatment plans, and improves the quality of care.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Psychiatric experience preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Current Connecticut RN License
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
  • Effective leadership and delegation skills
  • Experience with leading behavioral interventions or managing violent behaviors
